A friend introduced me to Young Living oils one day over lunch, and I instantly wanted to try them. She offered to purchase them for me at her discount, so I could try them. I loved the oils, and for the next couple of months, I researched and planned for the next oils I wanted to try. Eventually, I decided to get my own membership, and I’m so glad I did!
Young Living Membership
In order to become a “Member” of Young Living, you have to purchase a Starter Kit. There are many options for kits, which I will explain in a moment. Once you purchase your kit and choose to be a member, you then receive 24% off of the Young Living retail prices for the remainder of your membership.
Your membership stays active for one year from the last time you purchase something through Young Living.
When you purchase a Starter Kit, you are not promising to sell anything or to buy anything ever again. You can buy all of the oils you want to from Young Living, and never tell a single person about it, and you keep your 24% discount. You can also purchase your Starter Kit and never purchase another product (although I doubt this will happen)!
Another perk of membership is the Essential Rewards Program. It enables you to customize a Young Living order every month and receive free products for doing so. Not only that, but you also receive a portion of your purchases back in points, which you can use to purchase other products as well. You can cancel at any time and change your order every month depending on what you want to spend. It’s a win-win!

The Premium Starter Kit
The Premium Starter Kit is probably the most economical way to start using oils if you are starting from scratch. The kit costs $165 for over $410 worth of products!
The kit includes:
- A Diffuser (The Desert Mist is pictured, but there are several options, some increase the price of the kit if chosen).
- Digize oil: great for digestion and upset stomachs.
- Peppermint oil: great for head tension, alertness, flavoring, and deterring pests.

Basic Starter Kit
The Basic Starter Kit is $45, and it can be useful if you want to have 100% control over what oils you are purchasing, and/or you have already started your oil collection with a friend. You are basically getting your membership of 24% off of retail, a Stress Away oil, two Ningxia Red drink packets, and a Thieves Household Cleaning Packet (all are explained above).
This is the Starter Kit I started with because I had already bought several oils through my friend. I will say, though, that I ended up eventually purchasing all of the oils in the Premium Starter Kit on my own, and it was more expensive to buy them one at a time than it would have been in the kit.

Thieves Starter Kit
The Thieves Starter Kit is $160, and the Thieves products are all absolutely wonderful, non-toxic, and safe for yourself and your home. Thieves is a mixture of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary oils, and it smells divine!
The Kit includes:
