The main ingredients are shrimp, garlic, olive oil, butter, lime juice, mango, red pepper, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, avocado, sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded cabbage, tortillas, cotija cheese and a number of spices. View the full recipe here.
Recommendations
These tacos are not difficult to make, but there are several steps and lots of measuring, which takes some time. The shrimp in these tacos are marinated, and I let mine sit for about 30 minutes, per the instructions. It took me some time to peel and de-vein them.
I also made the Mango Salsa a few hours ahead, as it said I could do, and that was nice to have done when it came time to cook the shrimp, tortillas and make the crema.
The crema came together quickly in the blender, and I did add a few tablespoons of milk. My husband is not a fan of avocado, but he liked this crema, so if there is someone in the house that doesn’t care for it, the crema might still be okay for them.
I charred the tortillas on my gas burner before assembling the tacos.
I didn’t find that the Cotija cheese added much. I think I would leave that off next time. I will also add, the cilantro is easy to omit, if you are not a fan.
Future Ideas/Variations
I don’t think I would change anything about this recipe. I might try a different protein, but other than that, I would leave it as-is.
Final thoughts
This is a tasty dish that I’m already looking forward to making and eating again!
