Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil was one of the first oils I purchased, and I have loved it since Day One! Its therapeutic properties include: anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, digestive stimulant, pain relief and appetite suppression.

Here are just a few uses for Peppermint Oil:

Head Tension

I roll the oil over my temples (and sometimes over my eyebrows) when I have a headache. It helps numb the area and provides a soothing sensation. Take note not to get any oil in your eyes!

Sore Throat

I roll the oil over my throat and again, it provides a numbing effect.

Nausea

The scent of peppermint can help calm the feeling of being nauseated. Try placing a drop at the tip of your nose above your nostrils, inhaling the oil several times or diffusing it.

Muscle and Joint Pain

Peppermint can also help provide relief for muscle and joint pain. Simply place a few drops (or use a roller) over the area that is hurting, and do that three times daily.

Stuffy Nose/Allergies

If you are suffering with a virus or allergies, diffusing peppermint with something like Eucalyptus or R.C. can help open up the sinuses. You can also make a roller and roll it on your chest and neck a little bit like Vick’s Vapo-rub.

Attention/Alertness

The scent of peppermint oil is stimulating to the mind, and it can help with focus and alertness. Try placing a drop on your nose, temples or neck.

Upset Stomach

Peppermint can provide digestive support for an upset stomach. You can place 2 drops of Peppermint Vitality into your water and drink it, and/or rub it on your belly.

Flavor

Peppermint oil can be used in place of peppermint extract in recipes (but use much less than the extract, maybe a drop or two). You can also place a drop in your coffee for a Peppermint Mocha feel, or even in hot water to soothe sore throat.

Pest Control

Peppermint oil is a wonderful and natural pest deterrent. Place a few drops on a cotton ball and place where the pests are coming in. You can also place about 1 tablespoon of oil with a mostly full large spray bottle of water and spray where the pests are entering. Finally, make a bug spray to use on your body with other oils like Citronella.
